New Delhi: Passengers traveling to India from or after having visited Italy or South Korea will need to carry a medical certificate saying they are not infected with coronavirus. This will come into effect from March 10.
India issued an additional travel advisory on Thursday saying: "In addition to visa restrictions already in place, passengers travelling from /having visited Italy or Republic of Korea and desirous of entering India will need certificate of having tested negative for COVID-19 from the designated laboratories authorised by the health authorities of these countries. This will be enforced from 0000 hours of March 10, 2020 and is a temporary measure till cases of COVID-19 subside."
India has already suspended both regular (sticker) and e-visas granted to Italy, Iran, South Korea and Japan issued on or before March 3, 2020. Such nationals who have not entered India have been asked not to do so and if they need to come here, they must seek a fresh visa from their nearest Indian mission.
Air India has reduced frequencies to many affected countries.
The Bureau of Immigration had issued an Tuesday order saying: “All regular (sticker) visas / e-visa (including visa on arrival or VoA for Japan and South Korea) granted to nationals of Italy, Iran, South Korea, Japan and issued on or before March 3, 2020, and who have not yet entered India, stand suspended with immediate effect. Such foreign nationals may not enter India from any air, land or seaport. Those requiring to travel to India due to compelling reasons may seek fresh visa from nearest Indian embassy/consulate,” it says.
