Myanmar airline suspends Gaya operations

Gaya: The Myanmar National Airlines on Wednesday suspended its operations on the Yangon-Gaya route. The airlines took the decision in view of the global outbreak of Covid-19 virus.
According to a letter issued by an airlines official, flights will remain cancelled from March 18 to April 20. Earlier on Tuesday, Thai Air Asia suspended operation of its flights on the Bangkok-Gaya route. Confirming the suspension of flights by Thai Air Asia and Mynamar National Airlines, Gaya airport director Dilip Kumar said, “Air India too will suspended operation of its flights on Yangon-Gaya route from March 23 onwards.”

The airport director made it clear that Air India will continue its operations in the domestic sector on the Gaya-Delhi route. “Indigo flights too, in the domestic sector will continue,” said Kumar.

Earlier, the Union health ministry on March 16 and 17 issued advisories to the airport authorities. As per the advisory issued on March 16, visitors from or transiting through UAE, Qatar, Oman and Kuwait have to be put under mandatory quarantine for a period of 14 days. This is applicable also to Indians working in these countries. A sizeable number of people from Bihar and Jharkhand disembark at the Gaya airport.
