New Delhi: Several private airlines are still booking tickets violating the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) order.
The DGCA issued a circular on Sunday, saying that no decision has been taken yet to start passenger flights from May 4 after the second phase of the lockdown.
It had instructed all the airlines not to start booking the tickets.
Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri in his tweet said, 'Since some airlines did not heed our advisory and opened bookings and started collecting money from flyers, a directive was issued to them on 19th April restraining them from doing so.
'They were also informed that they will be given sufficient notice & time to commence bookings.'
In violation of this order of Civil Aviation Regulators, SpiceJet, GoAir, IndiGo and Vistara continue to make bookings. They just have extended the booking date a few days beyond May 4.
At the same time, the booking has been completely closed by the state-run Air India and private airline company Air Asia India.
Mr Puri reiterated, 'I want to once again say that flight restrictions that are in place as a result of India's fight against COVID19 will be lifted once we are confident that spread of the virus has been controlled & it poses no danger to our country & people.'
