Fake Air India manager dupes Panchkula electronics shopowner

Panchkula: Some unknown person who claimed to be the terminal manager of Air India at the Chandigarh Airport called up a Panchkula-based electronics shop and told him that the airport authorities have taken out tender of ACs and LEDs for the airport.
The shopkeeper was told that the tender fee was Rs 68,200. Later, the shopkeeper came to know that there was no such tender issued by the airport authorities.
A case of fraud has been registered with the cops.
Ashok Kumar, owner of JMD Electronics, Industrial Area, Phase II, reported to the cops that in September 20, 2019, around 7.30 pm, he received a call from some unknown person who introduced himself as Sanjeev Kumar, terminal manager, Air India, at Chandigarh Airport. He asked him to talk to their chief accountant commercial control who sits in New Delhi airport regarding purchase of electronic items to be installed at the airport.
He got convinced from the callers and the caller provided him that they needed 30 units of 2 ton inverter air conditioner and 10 units of 65 inch ultra HD 4K LED TV. They both agreed with the tender and a few forms were given to Ashok Kumar to fill online as formality.
