When India is fighting against Coronavirus i.e. COVID-19 and almost all modes of transportation coming to grinding halt, airlines are playing the much needed role in transporting medical necessities from one corner of the nation to another.
Like government owned Air India, several private airlines have shown their commitment to serve the nation in the hour of need and emergency. SpiceJet has shown its commitment and reiterated that it is committed and honored to help the nation every way it can during the battle against Covid-19 and continue transporting essential supplies across the country. Reiterating its commitment to help the Government in the battle against COVID-19, SpiceXpress freighters SG 7051 & SG 7055 carried blood vials from Surat & Bengaluru to Chennai, & emergency medical supplies on SG 7008 from Pune to Mumbai.
Nonetheless, Spicejet has operated 109 domestic cargo flights from 24 March to 3 April covering a distance of 1,14,993 KMs to carry 825 tons cargo to help India fight against Corona epidemic. Similarly, the airline transported first Covid-19 Rapid Testing kits for Kerala, a state that has been facing huge influx of coronavirus patients. These testing kits will help the state fight against the epidemic as the number of patients tested will go up. Similarly, the airline operated a special flight from Delhi to Coimbatore to deliver one hazmat suit that are used by the local authorities to do research & manufacture more locally, and bolster their efforts to combat the epidemic.
Apart from transporting cargo and testing kits, SpiceJet’s joint fight against COVID-19 continued as in March the airline operated a special flight to fly 142 Indians, evacuated from Iran, from Delhi to a quarantine facility in Jodhpur. All safety protocols were adhered to by the crew during this special flight to ensure that the virus does not spread to healthy people. The airline has also attracted media’s attention for its marvelous work in fight against Corona as Capt. Namrata Keen was featured on CNNnews18 as a CoronaWarrior.
