10 domestic flights get AAI nod to resume operations from Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: After the Centre allowed domestic flights to resume operations from May 25, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has accorded permission to 10 flights to operate from Bhubaneswar's Biju Patnaik International Airport.
The airlines are likely to get approval of Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), highest technical body to accord permission to any airline before actual operation starts, on Sunday, airport sources said. “The DGCA approval most probably will come by Sunday evening. We are in readiness to operationalize the airport for scheduled operation while maintaining the social distancing and other safety norms,” said airport director V V Rao.
The destinations the AAI has approved for the city is Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Jharsuguda. Including Air India, Indigo, Vistara and Air Asia will operate the flights. The city, before lockdown, used to witness 40 flights operating from here. “Gradually, the number of flights will increase,” said the director.
