Chennai Airport's “Touch Free” strategy

With the Civil Aviation Ministry planning to restart domestic flight operations, elaborate arrangements have been made by the Chennai airport authorities to ensure the safety and security of the passengers.

A “Touch Free” plan has been implemented by the Chennai Airport, keeping in mind that there is bare minimum physical contact between individuals within the airport premises.

Though the civil aviation ministry has made it clear that air travel would be opened up in a phased manner, the Tamil Nadu government is still not in favour resuming air services until May 31 due to the surge in the number of Covid-19 cases in the state.

However, Chennai Airport officials say they are prepared and a slew of measures have been put in place.

This includes suspension of luggage trolleys, magnifying glasses for CISF officials to check tickets from a distance, QR code readers for E-tickets and arrangements for hand hygiene etc.

According to the airport authorities, air travel and airport experience for passengers are not going to be different when the services resume on May 25th. Watch!
