How we will fly when we fly again

Aviation is a complex beast, with a million moving parts. When you take a flight from A to B, there are so many invisible variables at play: physics, economics, culture, behaviour–so many factors the industry has harmonised to make your journey easy, affordable and painless. With the covid pandemic, this vast but delicate system has been disrupted. It’s impossible to predict exactly what parts of this apparatus will change, by how much and for how long. Because, every small tweak has implications on cost, time, safety and comfort. But one can assume that the aviation industry—despite the massive strain—will stretch itself to make sure we keep travelling safely and comfortably.
