Imphal airport conducts SOP rehearsal

Imphal: In view of the scheduled resumption of domestic flight service from May 25, a rehearsal of the standard operating procedure (SOP) which should be followed at the airport on resumption of domestic flight service was carried out today with the airport’s staff.
Airport Authority of India (AAI), Imphal Airport Director MN Ansari said that the procedures and protective measures which should be followed at Imphal Airport when it becomes operational again from May 25 have been fully prepared.
A rehearsal was carried out today involving the airport’s staff  and staff of different airlines so as to make them more acquainted with the prescribed SOP and also on how to handle passengers at the airport, MN Ansari said.
As per the prescribed SOP, passengers and their baggages would be sanitised on entering the airport, body temperature would be measured using thermal scanner and passengers would be asked to wash their hands.
Even though airport staff would assist all passengers, they would wear face shields and  avoid direct touch with passengers, said the airport Director.
He said that a full body thermal scanner has been already installed at the arrival section of the airport for the first time in the entire North East region.
He informed that seven flights from Delhi, Kolkata and Guwahati would land at Imphal airport and take off again on May 25.
In the first phase, there would be flight services of Air India, Indigo and Air Asia at Imphal airport.
For departure, the number of passengers per flight may be restricted to 70 to 80. But for arrivals, all planes would be carrying passengers to the full capacity. As such, not less than 1000 people are expected at the airport in a day, MN Ansari said.
Apart from screening and sanitising all the incoming passengers, they would be taken away from the airport premises in special buses  arranged by the Government, he added.
