Incoming flyers more than outgoing at Patna airport

Patna: The number of flyers arriving at the Jayaprakash Narayan International Airport in Patna was almost double than those leaving the city for other destinations on the second day of resumption of domestic flight operations on Tuesday. The airport handled 10 pairs of flights during the day.

According to Patna airport director Bhupesh C H Negi, altogether 1,491 passengers arrived at the airport and 584 flew out of the city on Tuesday. "The airlines staff and security personnel handled passengers keeping social distancing in mind," he said.

Of the 11 scheduled flights on Tuesday, one was cancelled. Airport's assistant general manager (air traffic management) Santosh Kumar said SpiceJet operated four flights instead of five. "Bengaluru-Patna flight (SG-768) of SpiceJet was cancelled," he added.

One Ajit Saxena, who reached Patna from Delhi, said he felt relieved after meeting his family members outside the airport.

"I have returned to the city after two months due to the Covid-19 lockdown," Saxena, who had gone to New Delhi for business work before the announcement of lockdown, told this newspaper.
