Chennai: As many as six passengers on a TruJet flight from Chennai to Salem in Tamil Nadu that landed on Wednesday have tested for the novel coronavirus. There were a total of 56 passengers onboard the aircraft, six of whom have tested positive as of yet.
Officials said that all of the six passengers are asymptomatic. As a precautionary measure, all of the remaining passengers have been quarantined. TruJet is a Hyderabad-based private regional airline.
It has also come to light that a doctor, who works at the state-run Stanley medical college and hospital in Chennai, was one of the six individuals who tested positive for the infection. The doctor was also travelling to Salem.
Earlier on Thursday, a spokesperson for SpiceJet said that two passengers who travelled from Ahmedabad to Guwahati on May 25 have tested positive for Covid-19. The operating crew has been quarantined and other passengers are being notified, the spokesperson added.
