With flight operations set to resume, 2 more staffers test positive for coronavirus at Mumbai airport

Mumbai: With domestic flight operations set to resume from Monday, two new cases of the novel coronavirus have been reported from the air cargo complex of the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai. Staffers allege that this was the result of a lack of proper precautions by the management.

Two officers of the complex were found positive for Covid-19 on May 24. Among them was a Customs export commissioner and an assistant Customs import commissioner.

Photographs of the air cargo complex at the Mumbai International Airport show a complete disregard for basic hygiene. Staffers alleged that there was no soap or hand wash or sanitisation machine for the over 2,000 employees who work at the air cargo complex.

Furthermore, social distancing is not being adhered to in the Customs Department of the CSI Airport at Sahar in Mumbai's Andheri East area, staffers added.
