Air India to operate repatriation flights from Africa

India is gearing up for the third phase of Vande Bharat mission which is set to commence on June 9.
Phase 3 of this repatriation drive covers around 17 African countries — Air India will operate flights from Egypt, Kenya, Mauritius, Nigeria, Seychelles and South Africa and charter services for Djibouti, Morocco, Sudan, Morocco, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Tanzania, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ghana and Sierra Leone.

Today, an Air India repatriation flight is serving the Nairobi-Mumbai-Delhi sector under phase 2 of Vande Bharat Mission.
A non-scheduled commercial flight will operate from Johannesburg to Delhi and Mumbai on June 18, subject to the approval from the Government of South Africa.

Priority will be given to compelling cases, including migrant workers/labourers who have been laid off, short term visa holders with expired/expiring visas, persons with medical emergency/ pregnant women/ elderly, those required to return to India due to death of a family member and students.

For Indian nationals who have expressed interests in returning from Egypt, there is a flight from Cairo to Mumbai and Kochi on June 15. The Indian Embassy in Cairo has requested that stranded Indians who have not yet registered, may register on this link at the earliest so that their names could be included in the passenger list.
