Assam CM thanks ‘samaritan’ Sonu Sood for arranging flight for 180 migrants of Assam

Since May, Sonu Sood has been helping the migrant workers by sending them to their homes in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and other states. He has been called the ‘messiah’ by his fans. As reported by PTI, 180 migrant workers were airlifted from Mumbai to Silchar, Assam on Tuesday in a chartered flight operated by AirAsia. The 180 migrants, including four women and a child of Assam, were working in different hotels, restaurants, and other organisations in Pune, and during the lockdown, they had reached Mumbai to board a train to return to Assam.

Assam’s Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal lauded this effort of Sonu and thanked him for arranging a flight to ferry 180 migrants to Assam. He tweeted, “Apart from being a great actor, Shri @SonuSood is a great human being and a good samaritan to those in need. I convey my heartfelt thanks for arranging a flight to ferry 180 migrants of Assam stuck in Mumbai to Silchar. Kudos for your gesture.”
