Eight flights arrive at Cochin International Airport Ltd with 1,472 expats

Kochi: The Cochin International Airport Ltd (CIAL) confirmed the operations of eight repatriation flights evacuating 1,472 passengers stranded in various countries. These flights included two stopover flights from Moscow and Cairo along with a direct flight from Moldova operated by a Turkish airliner. Nine flights were scheduled for the day, of which Indigo cancelled its service from Kuwait.

The operations on Tuesday began with the arrival of the Indigo flight from Kuwait at 12.30am. The Air India flight from Moscow reached Kochi at 1.50am after stopover disembarkation at Delhi. The Air Arabia flight from Sharjah reached at 4.18am and the Air India flight from Cairo via Mumbai touched down at 9.20am.

The Go Air flight from Kuwait landed at 6.15pm and the Spicejet flight from Riyadh landed at 8pm. The Air India Express flight from Abu Dhabi landed at 7.25pm. The Istanbul headquartered Onur Air is operating a chartered flight from the East European country of Moldova has left for Kochi with 250 passengers.

The airport schedules the operation of eight repatriation flights for Wednesday, including a much-awaited arrival from the Southern European island country of Malta, and a stopover flight from Frankfurt. These eight flights together will evacuate 1,700 passengers which includes 700 from Saudi Arabia alone.

The Saudia flight, which was earlier cancelled on Monday, would be arriving at 11am with 350 passengers from Jeddah. Air India flight from Frankfurt, Germany, after stopover at Delhi, will touch down at 2pm with 150 passengers. Air India Express flight from Dubai will come at 4.45pm with 180 passenegers. A Gulf Air flight from Bahrain is scheduled for 6.15pm landing with 160 passengers.
