The infrastructure at Sahnewal airport is not exactly state of the art. It already had to deal with many challenges such as frequent flight cancellations in the past due to this. Now, with the recent resumption of operations amid Covid-19 threat, Shubhendu Krishan Sharan, who took over as director of the airport on April 18, 2019, talks to TOI’s Shariq Majeed about improvements undertaken by the airport authorities to deal with the tough times. He is also faced with the another challenge of shifting operations from Sahnewal airport to Halwara airport once that comes up.
