Safety concern: DGCA issues show cause to AirAsia India

New Delhi: AirAsia India is under regulator probe for alleged violation of safety practices. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued show cause notice to the JV airline’s head of flight operations and safety. The violations are learnt to be related to pilot fatigue and a landing technique of questionably using flaps in a way to save fuel.
An AirAsia India spokesperson confirmed “receipt" of the notice and said "we are assisting the regulator in its fact finding process. We will fully cooperate with the regulator.”
The show cause comes after the DGCA had on June 15 announced a probe into AirAsia India following a pilot levelling allegations of safety breaches by the airline on social media. The pilot, who airline officials said has been suspended pending inquiry into disciplinary charges, had levelled charges in a video that went viral on SM.
