1st list of Air India's 'redundant/surplus manpower' by August 11

National carrier Air India has formed an empowered committee to identify the employees who can be sent on leave without pay. As per a circular issued by Air India, "Empowered committee is hereby constituted for identification of redundant/surplus manpower resources." The committee comprises of 4 members including General Manager, Personnel who will be the Convener and 3 others including General Manager (Finance), Departmental Head & one representative of Regional Director to be co-opted, incase required on case merit, as mentioned in the notification.

The list of employees is to be submitted to the Regional director's office by August 11, 2020, which will then be reviewed and a final call will be taken at the Headquarters in New Delhi. According to the Leave Without Pay scheme cleared by Air India, some employees will be sent on leave for a period ranging from 6 months to 2 years and this can be extended for up to 5 years. Employees will be chosen on the basis of 7 factors including competence, the health of the employee, suitability, efficiency, quality of performance & redundancy.
