CBI examines senior officials of Mumbai International Airport Limited

New Delhi: A fortnight after registering a criminal case in the Mumbai International Airport scam, the Central Bureau of Investigation has examined senior officials of the MIAL. Sources who are aware of the developments in the probe said seven officials of MIAL have recorded their statement before Mumbai unit of CBI.

Sources say officials of MIAL were confronted with nine contracts which the CBI in its initial investigation found to be bogus and forged. Fraudulent contracts were used to siphon off money meant for redevelopment for Mumbai airport.

CBI has filed a case of cheating, forgery, the criminal conspiracy of the Indian Penal Code and in relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act against GVK Group, its directors, officials of MIAL, Airport Authority of India for causing a wrongful causing loss to the public exchequer of approximately Rs 805 crore.

No summons have yet been issued by the CBI to GVK Group chairman Dr GVK Reddy and his son who have been named as an accused in the FIR.
