Kolkata: With direct flights from Delhi to Kolkata banned, a man flew from Delhi to Guwahati and landed at the Kolkata airport and sent the authorities in shock with a revelation. As he was cleared for passage at the airport, he went up to the medics and demanded to be quarantined as he was Covid-19 positive.
On Tuesday, the resident of North 24 Parganas landed at Kolkata with no symptoms and his temperature was also below 99 degrees when the Kolkata airport authorities let him pass. But he refused and asked to be quarantined. The airport staff told him that quarantine was not required in his case as he did not have any symptoms, but the man was relentless, said a report in The Times of India.
He said he has cough but still failed to convince the airport authorities when finally he produced a coronavirus test report that said he is positive.
Airport authorities were left in shock. The man was immediately rushed to the nearby quarantine centre at Rajarhat while the authorities launched a frantic effort to trace all passengers and staff he came in contact with during his travel from Delhi to Kolkata via Guwahati.
