Ludhiana: “An estimate of Rs 21 crore for the construction of 4-km retaining wall and an approach road to Halwara Airport has been forwarded to the state government for approval. Once the estimate gets clearance, the construction work will start soon,” said Deputy Commissioner (DC) Varinder Sharma at a meeting here today.
Additional Chief Administrator (ACA), GLADA, Bhupinder Singh, the Raikot SDM, Dr Himanshu Guptam, and other officials attended the review meeting convened by the DC.
“A 4-km retaining wall will be constructed around the land acquired for the construction of civil terminal of Halwara International Airport. Twenty six acres have been earmarked for the construction of a taxi stand, food court, a five-star hotel, two-storey shops and other amenities while 135 acres will be used for constructing the civil terminal,” the DC said.
“The road leading to the airport site will also be widened. The PWD (B&R) and officials have been directed to start the work on the boundary wall of the international airport at the earliest,” the DC added.
