Gold smuggling: Air India SATS former vice president Binoy Jacob resigns from current company

Thiruvananthapuram: Air India SATS former vice president Binoy Jacob resigned from the ground handling agency Bhadra International where he is currently employed. As per reports, the company asked him to resign following the allegations levelled against him in connecttion with the gold smuggling case.
Swapna Suresh, the accused in gold smuggling case, was appointed during the tenure of Binoy Jacob. Allegations arose against him for appointing Swapna in Air India SATS and for involving in gold smuggling case.
Earlier, former administrative officer in Air India SATS Merin Mathew had disclosed that Binoy appointed Swapna hiding her ineligibility and pressurized the staff for supporting smugglers.
Also the probe team had found that Binoy managed to get the airport entry pass through illegal means. He obtained clearance certificate from the police while facing probe and trial in two criminal cases. According to latest reports, Binoy Jacob will be interrogated in connection with the case shortly.
