Kannur: Customs sleuths on Thursday seized 971 grams of gold worth around Rs 37 lakh from four passengers who arrived at Kannur International Airport in a chartered flight from Sharjah under Vande Bharat Mission.
Customs Assistant Commissioner E Vikas-led team detained the passengers Kembala Siddique, Madambilath Irshad, Mohammed AbdulKhader and Manimoola Abdulla Muhammed Riyaz, all hailing from Kasargod district.
According to customs officials, the seized gold was concealed inside the waistband of their pants and in body parts in powder form.
