GVK MIAL led Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) in Mumbai has announced that it had handled 70000 tonnes of freight in the first quarter of the financial year 2020-21 ended on June 30, 2020. The Mumbai International Airport also claimed to have handled the highest volume of Indian and international cargo than other Indian airports.
On July 24, 2020, AirBridgeCargo operated its first-ever Indian commercial flight, B-747 freighter, into Mumbai to lift 80 tonnes of pharmaceutical cargo destined for O'Hare International Airport in Chicago via its hub in Sheremetyevo International Airport (SVO), Moscow.
On June 11, 2020, National Airlines operated its B747-400 freighter from Mumbai to Chicago carrying 100 tonnes of essential medicines on behalf of JUSDA India.
On June 12, 14, 16, 27 & 28, Philippine Airlines carried 35 tonnes of charted medical cargo including that of World Health Organization (WHO) and 15 tonnes of general cargo from Mumbai to Manila in 5 repatriation flights that brought Indians back home from the Philippines.
