SpiceJet flyers to get option of buying Covid-19 hospitalisation insurance

New Delhi: SpiceJet is now giving the option to its passengers to buy an insurance cover for COVID-19 hospitalisation. The low cost carrier (LCC) has tied up with Go Digit General Insurance Limited through its Digit Illness Group Insurance Policy to offer this insurance cover.

Passengers can opt for the insurance cover ranging between Rs 50,000 to Rs 3,00,000 at an annual premium of Rs 443 to Rs 1,564 (including GST). This covers hospital expenses and all pre and post hospitalisation expenses for 30 and 60 days respectively.

The comprehensive cover includes tests, medication and consultations upon testing positive for COVID-19. This insurance has no restrictions on room or ICU rent, meaning there is no limit on ICU charges or room rent within the sum insured.
SpiceJet chairman and managing director Ajay Singh said: “The health, well-being and safety of our passengers is our topmost priority and this medical insurance cover that we have facilitated is certainly relevant for the current times. It will further boost the morale of our passengers to travel freely and frequently. The insurance cover is not only very affordable but is also valid for a one-year period. I would also reiterate the fact that air travel was and remains the safest mode of public transport and we have not seen a single case of transmission of the coronavirus on a SpiceJet flight.”
