Airlines haven't learnt any lessons from Kerala tragedy: Delhi-Shirdi Indigo flight passengers

Indigo Flight (6E-2019) Delhi-Shirdi on August 9 had to abort landing at Shirdi owing to technical reasons. The flight was thus diverted to Mumbai. The passengers have complained that they had a harrowing experience on-board and also alleged that the airline has not learnt any lessons from the recent tragedy in Kozhikode.

Speaking to India Today TV, a Gurgaon-based entrepreneur who was on the flight said that the airline didn't maintain the aircraft and it could have resulted in another tragedy. "There could have been another mishap. We just witnessed a big maintenance flaw which the airline should have checked. At around 4:25 pm we took off from Delhi. While we were about to land at Shirdi we could feel there were some problems. The crew announced that the flight has been diverted to Mumbai as there is a technical error at the airport," he said.

"This is what they said at Shirdi. But then just as were about to land in Mumbai the captain announced that there is a problem in the landing gear hence the flight was diverted. We knew there were problems from the start. Even at the Mumbai Airport the flight had problems and had to be pulled. We heard a huge sound as if something broke from the landing gear and then the aircraft stood still for a while. We were so scared. We could have lost their lives. And all they had to say in the end was opt for a cab for Shirdi or take refund," he added.
Many passengers have alleged that the airline refused accommodation citing the pandemic condition in the city.

A passenger @AhmadT786 tweeted: "Sir, @HardeepSPuri @Indogo6E Indigo flight Today 6E 2019 Del-SAG was diverted to Mumbai while coming to Shirdi. All passengers have been stranded in flight for the last 2-3 hours, if they can't arrange another flight to Shirdi tonight then why they should not provide stay facility?"
