Bengaluru: The Bengaluru International Airport Ltd (BIAL), which operates the Kempegowda International airport, has processed 71,406 tonnes of cargo during months of April to July registering a 79 per cent growth in cargo air traffic movement.
The 71,406 tonnes cargo included 6,194 perishables and 2,300 tonnes of pharma supplies besides 341 tonnes of COVID 19 related cargo.
The Kempegowda International Airport recorded a total of 2,990 cargo air traffic movements and 38,000 international passengers during the months of April to July.
While international cargo throughout was 51,728 mt, domestic was 19,678 mt during this period.
Of this, perishables, including 507 mt of mangos, were delivered to 31 international destinations.
Apart from perishables and pharma supplies, the other freight processed during this period included electronic and engineering equipment, spares and readymade garments.
Before the pandemic, BIAL’s volumes were distributed between freight and passenger aircraft in a 40:60 ratio
