Madhya Pradesh Congress president and MLA Jitu Patwari shared a photo of a plane with expensive and luxurious interiors to claim that it was PM Narendra Modi’s private plane.
Patwari mocked Modi’s humble origins as a tea-seller to sarcastically claim that India would become a superpower only if Modi gets to enjoy all luxuries of life.
The photo shared by Patwari is not of PM Modi’s plane. It is the private jet version of Boeing's bestselling 787 Dreamliner.
Using reverse-image search, we found a post from Business Insider carrying the same image as the one shared by Patwari.
Titled ‘The private jet version of the Boeing 787 can cost more than $200 million and fly over 18 hours. Take a look at some its most luxurious designs’, the post is about Boeing Business Jet 787.
The image is captioned as ‘Inside a BBJ 787 Dreamliner. DeerJet and Greenpoint Technologies/Boeing’.
As per a June 8, 2020 report from Hindustan Times, two custom-made B777 aircraft, which will be used to fly Modi and other top Indian dignitaries, are likely to be delivered by Boeing to Air India by September.
Currently, the Prime Minister, the president and the vice president fly on Air India’s B747 planes, which have the call sign ‘Air India One’.
Air India pilots fly these B747 aircraft for the dignitaries and the Air India Engineering Services Limited maintains them. When these B747 aircraft are not flying the dignitaries, they are used by the Indian national carrier for commercial operations.
The fact check arm of the Press Information Bureau took to Twitter to bust Patwari’s false claims.
