IndiGo pilot on way to Hyderabad airport killed in car crash

Hyderabad: A pilot of Indigo airlines died in a road accident at Rajendra Nagar when the car he was travelling in rammed into a truck on Monday. According to police, the mishap occurred at around 5.20am when Indigo pilot Preet Mahender Singh, 42, was going to RGI Airport in an office cab.
While the cab was traveling from his house at Nallagandla to Airport, the mishap occurred at Himayatsagar on the Outer Ring Road (ORR). "Due to overspeeding and also probably because he dozed off, the cab driver could not notice the truck moving ahead of him. The cab rammed into the truck from behind in the middle. Mahendra Singh who was sitting in the front seat died on the spot with multiple injuries," Rajendranagar inspector G Suresh said.
SI Balaraju who is investigating the case said that the truck driver, Prabhu Das, was driving the vehicle to Kothur from Nagpur with iron load. "The truck was travelling in the second lane meant for high speed vehicles. So, we registered a case against the truck driver and took him into custody. The truck has been seized," the SI said.
The car driver, Shiva Shankar, of Narkoda, suffered severe injuries and is undergoing treatment in a nearby corporate hospital.
