‘Pieces of cabin luggage fell on my daughter’: First-hand account of Kozhikode plane crash survivor

Kozhikode: Ramshad, one of the survivors of the Air India Express plane crash at Kozhikode on Tuesday said that there was “utter chaos” around him as he recalled the horror of the deadly mishap that claimed lives of 18 people.

Ramshad, his pregnant wife and four-year-old daughter escaped Kozhikode flight mishap with minor injuries.

Sharing his miraculous escape, the survivor said, “I feared that aircraft will explode and I was running with my family to safety. It's a miracle that we escaped unhurt. I thank Almighty for it."

Ramshad further said that pieces of cabin luggage fell on her four-year-old daughter, adding that he managed to jump out of the plane along with his family members.
“I somehow managed to get up and took her. My wife also got up after initial shock. We managed to reach the wing of the aircraft and jumped out. There were cries and utter chaos all around us,” he was quoted as saying by ANI.

As many as 18 people, including two pilots, were killed on Friday after an Air India Express’ Vande Bharat flight from Dubai with 190 onboard, overshot the tabletop runway during landing at the Kozhikode airport in heavy rain, fell into a valley 35 feet below and broke into two.
Earlier today, Air India Express had said that 74 passengers injured in the B737 plane crash have been discharged from hospital after "obtaining complete fitness".

"As on date, 74 injured passengers have been discharged from various hospitals after obtaining their complete fitness," it said.
