Today in a spree of tweets the Airports Authority of India confirms, under the Regional Connectivity Scheme, the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) and the Airports Authority of India has joined hands with the Government of Bihar to provide air connectivity from Darbhanga to other airports.
For the same, Currently, the Airports Authority of India is constructing an Interim Civil Enclave in the Airport Premises. A prefabricated terminal building with car parking facility and strengthening the runway to accommodate B737-800 type aircraft. The estimated cost to construct the above-mentioned thing is Rs. 92 crores.
The Airports Authority of India also confirms, initially, SpiceJet has been selected as the first to operate from this airport.
Now, although the AAI haven’t revealed the exact date when the airport starts its operation, earlier in a blog post we told you that the flight services from the airport might will start on October 25. I suggest you to read that blog post from here to gain more insight about the same.
