Air India to serve vegetarian hot meals on international relief flights

Mumbai: Air India will be serving vegetarian hot meals across all classes on its international flights, said the meal service procedure guidelines issued by the airline on Friday. The airline won’t be offering the option of non-vegetarian meals and other special meals in order to limit the interaction between airline crew members and passengers, said an Air India official.
"For the hot meal service, the menu and boxes will be the same across all classes...The hot meal and beverage service is to be conducted approximately three to four hours prior to landing, depending on the flying time," said the guideline. "A snack box containing water bottle will be placed on the passenger seats by the caterer, across all classes. Additional cashew and almond packets to be uplifted in first class and business class. Additional peanut packets to be uplifted in economy class," it said.
"Tea, coffee service will be on demand in distributing cups. Minimal time to be spent in the cabin. There will be no pouring service and beverages will be served in single use disposable units," said the guideline. "Special care should be taken while handling used items, ensuring minimal touch and cross contamination. Sufficient empty drawers to be provided in cabinets. Large Service trays to be provided," said the guidelines.
