Airlines open ticket bookings for tomorrow

Kolkata: Airlines on Thursday opened their ticket sales for Saturday evening after a nod from the aviation ministry, following the state government’s decision to scrap the lockdown on September 12. “Even after we read the chief minister’s tweet, we could not open the bookings till we got a nod from the airport operator and the ministry,” said a private airline official. Kolkata airport director Kaushik Bhattacharjee said flights will operate normally on Saturday. There will be no flights on Friday due to the lockdown.

Meanwhile, moments after the CM’s tweet, people started flooding social media platforms tagging Airports Authority of India and the Kolkata Airport seeking information on whether flights will run on Saturday once Friday’s lockdown was over. Airline officials said they may have to club a few flights based on viability and passenger load.
