Dehradun Airport to get a makeover

Airports Authority of India is expecting a rise in passenger traffic at Dehradun Airport or Jolly Grant Airport in the near future, as domestic travel begins to open up gradually.

To meet the rising demand, AAI has allocated ₹3.53 billion for the redevelopment at Dehradun Airport.

The new domestic terminal building that is underway will feature 36 check-in counters, four aerobridges, facilities like self-check-in kiosks and an inline baggage screening facility, amongst others. A utility block, a car park, sewage treatment plant, rainwater harvesting facilities and other ancillary structures are also planned.

“With an area of 42,776 sqm, the new terminal building will be able to handle around 1,800 passengers during peak hours, thereby expanding the capacity of the airport by eightfold. The new terminal building will have a concourse, check-in area, security hold and arrival lounge at ground floor, security hold at first floor and various offices on the mezzanine floor,” states a press statement by Airports Authority of India.
