Bengaluru is a high-flier: City only one from country featuring in top 10 aerospace cities list

Bengaluru has ranked third in the list of top 10 aerospace cities in the world. According to FDi Intelligence, a division of an international publication, Bengaluru was positioned in the third spot on the fDi’s 2020-21 ranking, making it the only Indian city to make it to the list of the top 10.
Bengaluru has moved up one spot compared to the previous rankings where it occupied the fourth place. “Bengaluru, the capital of India’s southern Karnataka state, came third in fDi’s 2020-21 ranking up from fourth place in the previous study. An estimated total of more than 7000 aerospace FDI jobs were created in the city between 2015 and 2019, the highest out of all locations analyzed,” stated the fDi aerospace cities rankings. It further pointed out the presence of major international aerospace companies in the city.
 “Notable investors include UK-based Rolls-Royce Holdings and Liebherr Aerospace, part of Switzerland-based Liebherr. In September 2018, US based multinational Boeing announced plans to set up a $156m electronic manufacturing facility in its Bangalore tech, hub, creating 2,600 jobs,” it added.
 Singapore topped the ranking followed by London. The other cities to make it to the top 10 list are Paris, Shanghai, Amsterdam, Dubai, Beijing, Dublin and Hamburg. The data is collected from 50 locations under five categories : Economic Potential, FDI Performance , Cost Effectiveness, Innovation & Attractiveness and Aerospace Connectivity.
Bengaluru also occupied the third position in the aerospace cities FDI performance rankings behind Singapore and Dubai. Hyderabad and New Delhi topped the cost effectiveness category where Bengaluru was ranked seventh.
