A pioneering woman pilot from Bengaluru who flew rescue missions during partition

In the late 1940s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel travelled across the country in his historical effort to unify India after independence from the British. Much to the surprise of Patel, a young girl in her early 20s from Bangalore was often one of the pilots for his flights and soon became his close friend.
