Chennai: Three days after Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) resumed services in a graded manner after a five-month break, it will start operation of the direct line from Central Metro to Airport via Koyambedu from Thursday. It will also extend the train timing from 7am to 9pm following requests from the public. On Wednesday, CMRL began operating the second corridor of phase-1 from Central Metro to St Thomas Mount via Koyambedu.
"Train services from Puratchi Thalaivar Dr MG Ramachandran Central Metro to St Thomas Mount metro station and from Puratchi Thalaivar Dr MG Ramachandran Central Metro to Airpprt metro via Koyambedu will run as alternate trains from September 10," CMRL said in a release.
It means, passengers heading from the airport to CMBT to board a bus or vice versa could reach their destination in the same train, which will change corridors through the loop line at Alandur metro. Without this service, passengers may have to physically change corridors at Alandur metro.
