Six arrested for stealing aviation oil from IOCL pipelines in Delhi-NCR

New Delhi: Six members of a gang were on Saturday arrested for allegedly stealing a huge quantity of aviation oil from Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) pipelines and selling it at various places across Delhi. The six, accused of stealing oil, have been identified as Sanjay Dhawan Dinky, Mukesh Kumar, Samay Pal, Avlesh, Himanshu and Sanjay were arrested by a Crime Branch team of the Delhi Police.

A truck and a tanker used for transportation of stolen aviation oil from IOCL pipelines, 1100 liters of aviation fuel and oil, instruments dig a hole over the selected IOCL pipelines, a Santro car used in the crime, Rs 60,000 cash and a generator and an oil pipe was recovered from their possession.

A probe was initiated after several complaints about a gang involved in the theft of petrol, diesel and aviation oil from the supply pipelines of an oil and gas company in the area of Delhi and NCR. Following the complaints, a team was constituted to nab the criminals.

On September 5, the police received a tip-off that five members of the gang, involved in the theft of the aviation oil from the pipelines of IOCL, were travelling in Nihal Vihar area to sell the stolen fuel in a tanker/truck No UP 7955 accompanied by a Santro car.

"A trap was laid and when the vehicles entered into a godown situated in Nilothi, Nihal Vihar, our team apprehended all the six members of the gang," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Bhisham Singh said.

Later, a case was registered at PS Crime Branch, Delhi against the accused. It was later revealed that all the six accused had good knowledge of the locations of supply pipelines of IOCL. They had been stealing the oil for about a year and a half.
