MP Girish Bapat chairs meet over Pune airport’s future

With several development projects in pipeline, Pune airport is set to witness a major revamp over the next couple of years.

A meeting was held on Tuesday, chaired by Member of Parliament Girish Bapat and airport director Kuldeep Singh, to talk about its future. The meeting was also attended by members of the Pune Municipal Corporation(PMC) and the Indian Air Force (IAF).

The key points discussed in the meeting revolved around enhancing facilities for passengers that included hassle-free travel to the airport, the parking facility, and road development works around the airport area.

A proposal has been put forth by the Airports Authority of India to develop a 10-km congestion-free corridor from Shivajinagar to the airport.

Singh told Mirror, “There are several developmental projects in the pipeline for Pune airport for which many works have already been commenced, while some are in proposal and approval stages. A proposal about the Shivajinagar-airport corridor has been discussed and has received a positive response. Issues with respect to IAF.
