Mangaluru: The Adani Group is all set to take over operation and management of Mangaluru International Airport on October 31, as per the announcement by Airports Authority of India (AAI) on Thursday. Following the pandemic, taking over the airport was delayed by the Adani Group.

The aviation ministry signed MoU with Adani Mangaluru International Airport Ltd on Thursday for provision of services like Customs, immigration, plant and animal quarantine, health and security (collectively called reserved services). AAI also signed three separate communications, navigation and surveillance systems for air traffic management with these concessionaires for services at the airport.

About 25 high-level officials of Adani Group studied the airport issues since the last couple of months. For a few months, the post of airport director is said to be in force after which the executive officer of Adani Group is expected to take over the affairs.

Further, on Thursday the AAI also announced that the Group will take over the Lucknow airport on November 2 and the Ahmedabad airport on November 7. Meanwhile, MoUs for respective airports were signed - Adani Ahmedabad International Airport Ltd and Adani Lucknow International Airport Ltd.

The concession agreements for operations, management and development of Ahmedabad, Lucknow and Mangaluru Airports through PPP mode were signed on February 14.
