Kannur: Customs sleuths on Thursday seized 615 grams of gold worth around Rs 31 lakh from a passenger who arrived at Kannur International Airport from Dubai in a chartered flight schedule under Vande Bharat Mission.
Customs Assistant Commissioner Vikas led team detained Shameej Omban (29), a resident of Vilakkode in this district, who arrived in a GoAir flight in the wee hours this morning..
The seized gold was in compound form and kept in his underwear, Customs Superintendent V P Baby said.
