A release issued by the Commissioner of Customs said based on
information the AIU officials intercepted a passenger Rawther
Naina Mohamed (38) of SP.Pattinam who arrived from Dubai by
an Air India Express flight.
On persistent questioning, he confessed to be carrying gold
paste bundles concealed in rectum. On his personal search,
two bundles of gold in paste form were recovered from rectum
from which 179 gms of gold was recovered after extraction and
two gold bits weighing 50 grams were recovered from his pant
pocket. Total 229 gms of gold valued at Rs 12 lakhs was recovered from
him and seized.
In another case, one Abdul Kadar Jailani (34) of Madurai who
arrived from Dubai by an Air India Flight was intercepted. On
his personal search two bundles of gold paste concealed in
rectum were recovered.
Total 228 gms of gold valued at Rs 11.96 lakh was recovered
and seized under the Customs Act
In all, 457 gms of gold worth Rs 23.96 lakh was recovered
and seized under the Customs Act.
