Two international flyers held with gold worth Rs 58 lakh

Mumbai: The Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) of Customs on Monday intercepted two passengers who arrived from Dubai at the Mumbai international airport and seized nearly 2,800g of gold dust worth Rs 58.4 lakh that had been concealed in their baggage.

On the specific intelligence, AIU officials intercepted the two who had arrived on GoAir and Spicejet flights. Their search resulted in recovery of 1,439g and 1,289g of gold dust, valued at Rs 58.4 lakh collectively. Both were arrested under the Customs Act and further investigation is on.
