Uttar Pradesh govt extends deadline to sign pact for Jewar airport

The Uttar Pradesh government has extended the deadline for signing the concession pact with Switzerland-based Zurich Airport International (ZAI) to develop the greenfield Jewar international airport in Greater Noida.

On 11 August 2020, the Project Monitoring and Implementation Committee (PMIC) had recommended for extending the deadline for signing the pact, and also extending the date of the bid validity and security, which was to expire on 24 October 2020 to March 2021.

The deadline for signing the agreement with the Swiss corporation has been extended by 45 days from the resumption of India-Malaysia and India-Switzerland flights (whichever is later), and also including the mandatory 45 day quarantine period, or October 15, 2020, whichever is earlier.

In June 2020, the State Cabinet had set the conditional deadline of 17 August 2020 for signing the pact.

The proposed airport will require nearly 1,450 ha of congruous land for the Phase-I civil works spanning six villages in Greater Noida.
