Over two kgs of gold seized by Customs officials at Kannur Int'l Airport

Kannur: Customs sleuths on Tuesday seized 2.288 kg of gold valued around Rs 1.17 crore from two passengers after they have arrived at Kannur International Airport from Dubai in GoAir aircraft scheduled under Vande Bharat Mission. 
 Customs Assistant Commissioner E Vikas-led team detained Ismail Meethale Kunnathu, a resident of Kadavathur in Kannur district and Javad Yousef, a resident of Narampady in Kasaragod district. 
 Customs seized 1316 grams of gold valued Rs 67,70,820 from Ismael in paste form kept in polythene covers concealed by wrapping around his ankles. As much as 972 grams of gold valued Rs 50,00,940 was seized from Javed Yousef which was kept in his underwear in capsule form, customs sources said.
