Farmers' protest: Air India offers free rescheduling for flyers who could not reach Delhi airport on Thursday

New Delhi: Air India is giving passengers who could not reach Delhi Airport on Thursday to catch their flights a one-time free rescheduling, due to closure of the capital's border in wake of the farmers' protest march. IndiGo and Vistara said they will also appropriate steps for passengers who couldn’t reach IGI Airport on time for flights Thursday.

Air India said in a tweet: "In view of traffic disruption in NCR region due to closure of Delhi borders, we are allowing no-show waiver and one free reschedule to passengers who couldn't report for their flights. Waiver will be valid for flights scheduled out of Delhi airport only for November 26, 2020."

An IndiGo spokesperson said: “We are sensitive to our customers needs and will accommodate anyone reaching late (on Thursday) on account of traffic disruption. We will also process refunds, if passengers inform the IndiGo team.”

A Vistara spokesperson said the airline has “always maintained flexibility in such situations. We will monitor and implement waivers as needed.”

Security personnel are deployed at Delhi borders to prevent farmers protesting against recent farm laws from marching to the capital.

Comments have been sought from other airlines and are awaited.

India's largest airline, IndiGo, issued a travel advisory on Thursday. "We're anticipating heavy traffic congestion due to road blocks on Punjab-Haryana borders. Please keep enough travel time in hand while travelling to the airport to avoid last minute hassle," IndiGo tweeted.
