Passenger footfall at Indore airport up 68% in a month

Indore: Passengers footfall at Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport of Indore has gone up by 68 per cent within a month.

As per official data released by the airport authority of India (AAI), about 51,551 passengers travelled to and from Indore airport in September, 2020 as against total footfall of 37,020 passengers in the month of August this year.

Similarly, the airport has also witnessed about 58 percent increase in aircraft movement in the month of September, if compared with the aircraft movement in the month of August this year. Traffic data further shows that Indore airport witnessed as many as 906 aircrafts in the month of September this year. Around 528 aircrafts flew in and out of Indore in the month of August. “Passengers’ footfall in the month of September rose by 14,531 with an extra of 378 aircrafts flying in and out of Indore,” the report points out.

Though, this increase is still way behind last year’s figure, airport authorities have kept their fingers crossed hoping for gradual increase in passenger movement. About 2.27 lakh passengers travelled in the month of September last year.

Airport director Aryama Sanyal said that flight movement to and from Indore is increasing gradually with more number of airlines resuming their operations on various domestic routes. “We are already having daily movement of up to 56 flights within four months after domestic flight operations were allowed by the government. Flight operations to cities like Goa, Pune, are also in pipeline in coming months,” the director said, while adding that they expect flight movement to be increased further by this year end.
