Stall your plans to fly out to Japan from Bengaluru

While the air bubble agreement between India and Japan has facilitated operations of direct flights between New Delhi and Tokyo for the next two months, direct

flight service between Bengaluru and the Japanese capital will have to wait till the end of January 2021.

Japan Airlines (JAL) which had proposed to start direct flights services between Bengaluru and Tokyo (Narita airport) this year has stated that this service stands

suspended till the end of January 2021.

“As it currently stands, JAL has announced its international network plan through the end of January 2021 and scheduled flights to/from India (Delhi/Bengaluru)

continue to be suspended for the immediate future. Will advise if any plans change,” JAL spokesperson told Bangalore Mirror.

There was speculation that with the air bubble agreement coming in place flights services between Bengaluru and Tokyo would commence during the winter

schedule.

However, so far only Air India has announced flight service from Delhi to Tokyo and vice versa from November 2 to December 28 and November 4 and December

30 respectively.

The daily flight between Bengaluru and Narita (Tokyo) was originally scheduled to commence on March 29, but its inaugural flight was delayed due to the Covid-19

outbreak.

This service between Bengaluru and Narita was also expected to provide convenient connections to/from North America via Narita. According to the Ministry of

Foreign Affairs of Japan, there are approximately 1,200-1,300 Japanese nationals residing in/around Bengaluru.
