Gold worth around Rs 83 lakh seized at Kannur Intl Airport, two held

Kannur: Air Customs sleuths on Friday seized 1,582 grams of gold worth around Rs 83 lakh from two passengers arrived at the Kannur International Airport in an Air India flight from Dubai.
 Customs Assistant Commissioner E Vikas-led team detained two passengers K V Ismail, a resident of Valayam in Kozhikode district and Rayyan Hassan, a native of Bhatkal in Karnataka. 
 Customs sources said that they seized 1,466 grams of gold valued around Rs 76,96,500 from Ismail and 116 grams of gold valued Rs 6,09,000 from Hassan.
