IndiGo, SpiceJet now let you book a COVID test along with flight tickets

A number of destinations now still require passengers to carry a report proving that they are COVID-19 negative. If you’re unsure of how to go about that, especially with different destinations specifying different stipulated time periods to take a test, SpiceJet and IndiGo have made things easier for you: both airlines now offer passengers the option to book an RT-PCR home test to check for a coronavirus infection, though at an additional cost.

IndiGo has partnered with Stemz Healthcare to facilitate this service, which aims to provide passengers with a hassle-free travel experience and also help them avoid quarantine in some countries (depending on local laws). Besides India, IndiGo’s RT-PCR testing service, which both international and domestic passengers can avail here, will be available at some airports abroad as well, including the UAE, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.

SpiceJet has tied up with VFS Global for passengers to book an appointment for a test before their flight. To book the test, customers can visit the airline’s website and avail the service under the “Add-ons” section. They can either request for a doorstep service or opt to visit a nearby lab.

While the airline’s service is currently available for all customers in India (Mumbai, Delhi, Kochi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Jalandhar, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad and Pune) and the UAE (Ajman, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, or Sharjah), SpiceJet plans to roll it out for other countries as well soon.
